- The trees from the previous post that were struck by lightening on #18 had to be removed. This created a large void along the lake that has been sodded for now and will remain this way at least until after the Big Break. We personally like the new look.
- We have probably laid 3-4 times the amount of sod that we would lay in a normal year. Some of this is rebuilding tees, but most of it is just getting "camera ready"
- Eric has made more props for the Big Break Challenge which is held every Friday evening at the Oconee golf course.
- We have had multiple photo shoots for The Golf Channel and Reynolds Plantation commercials.
- We have been in contact with the Golf Channel on tower placements during the tournament and placement of their compound during the tournament.
- We have been coordinating with vendors and other superintendents throughout the state that are going to volunteer and help us during the tournament week.
- Mowing, edging, weedeating, ect frequency's have gone through the roof.
- This summer we also started walk spraying our greens again to help reduce the amount of tire tracks seen on greens.
- We have stayed hard on our weekly topdressing and bi-weekly veticutting and topdressing of greens.
- While getting ready for Big Break we have also hosted a US amateur qualifier and another GSGA event called the Women's Southeastern Challenge.
The next 6 weeks will definitely be a blur but we will try to keep everyone posted on what is going on with the tournament. Below are a few links to Big Break related pages.
