Spring Aerification

On April 15th and 16th we aerified all of our greens with 1/4" core tines. This is our normal spring aerification but this year we are a little earlier than normal. We followed the same process as we have in the past. Our order of operations is as follows:
Topdress greens heavy with damp medium
Aerify with toro 648, 2 clean up laps, then fill in the middle. 2"X2" spacing
Brush with pull behind power brush, multiple directions
Blow off what sand and debris is left behind
Roll 2 directions
Add amendments
The rain on Tuesday morning did mess us up a little but with us being closed 2 days this week we were able to spill over into Wednesday and get everything finished up.

Superintendent:
Brandon Hayes
Brandon has been in golf course maintenance for over 15 years and he holds a B.S in Agriculture focused on Turfgrass Management from The University of Georgia. While in college Brandon worked at the Athens Country Club. After graduation he moved to the lake area and started working at Reynolds Landing, then moved on to Great Waters and has been here ever since. First Assistant Superintendent:

Brad Nixon

Brad came to us from the Landing course here at Reynolds Lake Oconee where he was the spray tech for a short time and later the Second Assistant there. Before that he did an internship at the Preserve course during their renovation. Brad got his degree from Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood, SC.

Second Assistant Superintendent:

David Fleming

David graduated from UGA with a degree in Turfgrass Management. While in school, he did internships at Ridgewood CC in NJ, Columbia CC in Maryland and Atlanta CC. After graduation he went to Atlanta Country Club as the Second Assistant for two years before making his way to Reynolds as the Second Assistant at our Oconee Course. David then proceeded to get out of the business and work as a farm manager on his family's potato farm in Parrish, FL for six years before coming to Great Waters in June of 2017.

Spray Tech:

Daniel Mendsen

Daniel recently graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University where he played four years of soccer, and majored in Exercise Science and Wellness. He previously worked at Lane Creek Country Club in Bishop, GA on the maintenance staff for five years. Daniel did intern here at Great Waters in the summer of 2017 before going back to school to finish his degree.

Turf Equipment Manager:
Eric Dickerson
Eric has been in golf course maintenance for over 20 years and he holds an A.S. in Turf Equipment Technology from Lake City College. He is the Turf Equipment manager at Great Waters and Reynolds Landing.
